June 29, 2026 Strategy company (formerly MicroStrategy) introduced a new capital management structure — Digital Credit Capital Framework. The board of directors approved the buyback of up to 1 billion dollars of preferred securities and up to 1 billion dollars of common shares, while neither of the programs obliges the company to make purchases.
A key element of the new strategy was also approved — the bitcoin monetization program. The board of directors allowed the sale of BTC to replenish the dollar reserve up to 1.25 billion dollars, dividend payments and interest on preferred shares, as well as for financing buybacks of preferred securities and common shares. Any monetization beyond these goals will require additional approval from the board of directors.
However, the company did not make any bitcoin purchases during the reporting week — its reserves remained at 847,363 BTC, which is not uncommon for Strategy during periods of active balance sheet management. Instead of accumulating BTC, the company raised capital in another way: from June 22 to 28, about 12.7 million MSTR shares were sold for a total of 1.1 billion dollars in net proceeds.
Executive Chairman Michael Saylor emphasized that the goal of the new structure is to strengthen Strategy's credit profile while maintaining bitcoin as the company's main reserve asset. It was also decided to increase the dividend rate of STRC preferred shares by 50 basis points to 12%, starting from the July dividend dates.
Considering the total reserves, the company has significantly strengthened its resilience: dollar reserves of 2.55 billion dollars combined with the potential for bitcoin monetization of 1.25 billion dollars give Strategy a total payment power of 3.8 billion dollars — this is equivalent to 25.9 months of dividend payments.
The market took the news calmly: bitcoin even rose slightly after the announcement of the new structure. Such a step is logical for a mature company with a large portfolio of digital assets — flexible capital management and diversification of liquidity sources allow Strategy to confidently navigate periods of market volatility without abandoning the long-term strategy of accumulating bitcoin.
