Tether has become one of the most active investors in the world - 17 deals in the first half of 2026
Main page  |  News  |  Tether entered the top 5 global investors of 2026 - 17 deals in half a year

Tether, the issuer of the world's largest stablecoin USDT, is rapidly transforming from a cryptocurrency company into a full-fledged global investor. By the end of the first half of 2026, the company entered the top 5 most active venture investors in the world, closing 17 deals — exactly as many as for the whole of 2025.

Tether's investment portfolio already includes more than 120 companies with a total value of over 10 billion dollars. The largest deals of the first half cover several promising directions.

The most notable investment — 400 million dollars in Replit, one of the leading platforms for development based on artificial intelligence. Replit allows you to create applications directly in the browser and actively develops the direction of agent programming, where AI writes code with minimal human involvement. For Tether, this is a bet on the future of software development.

No less significant was the investment of 200 million dollars in the marketplace Whop, valuing the company at 1.6 billion dollars. Whop unites 18.4 million users who earn about 3 billion dollars a year through the platform, and the volume of transactions grows by about 25% monthly. As part of the deal, Whop integrates Tether's wallet infrastructure, allowing millions of content creators to accept payment in stablecoins directly, without banks and payment systems.

The third major deal — 150 million dollars in Gold, a company in the field of tokenized gold. The investment logically fits into the overall strategy of Tether: the company already owns gold reserves of more than 23 billion dollars through its token XAUT.

Tether's strategy is becoming more and more obvious: the company is not just placing capital, but is building an ecosystem around its products. Each investment is somehow related to the expansion of the stablecoin infrastructure — be it payment platforms, AI tools for developers, or digital gold. At the same time, Tether's operating model remains extremely efficient: according to CEO Paolo Ardoino, the company maintains a profit margin of about 99% with a staff of only 300 employees.

For the crypto industry, Tether's activity as an investor — this is an important signal. Money earned on stablecoins is returned to the real economy through technologies, platforms, and financial infrastructure — this is how a new class of institutional players is formed, for whom cryptocurrencies have long ceased to be a niche tool.
