Adam Back: Bitcoin is cheap, drawdown is an opportunity, altcoins are moving towards zero
Adam Back — a cryptographer whose work on the Hashcash system was cited by Satoshi Nakamoto in the original white paper Bitcoin, — rarely gives investment advice. But in recent months he has been doing it more persistently, and his position is clear: Bitcoin is cheap, a slump — is an opportunity, and everything else — is air.
In an interview Yahoo Finance Back characterized current levels BTC as an attractive entry point for anyone considering investing capital. He backed up his position with a personal example — publicly announcing that he himself bought Bitcoin during the recent correction. His phrase, which flew around the crypto community back in March, accurately reflects the philosophy: «Slumps exist to transfer bitcoin from weak hands to strong ones».
At the same time, Back harshly spoke about altcoins. In a series of posts in X, he stated that the efficient market is finally starting to reevaluate memecoins, smart contract tokens and other «air assets» towards zero. According to him, he has been expecting this for ten years — and is only surprised that the market needed so much time. His argument is simple: tokens without cash flows, without real demand in the blockchain space, and without fundamental value have no basis for any evaluations. His recipe — is concise: «Buy Bitcoin, hold, repeat».
As CEO Blockstream and Bitcoin Standard Treasury Company, Back is consistent: he doesn't just talk, he acts. His view of the current cycle also remains unchanged — the fall from October highs fits into historical four-year patterns and reflects volatility, not a breakdown of the thesis. Institutional participation, in his opinion, is only in the early stages, and it is this that should soften the amplitude of fluctuations over time.
